OUIGO ticket sales open in waves, up to 9 months before departure. In practice, SNCF announces two major sales openings each year: in spring for summer trips, and in autumn for winter holidays and festive periods.
Why does this matter? Because tickets starting at €10 sell out first. The earlier you book after sales open, the better your chances of getting the lowest fare on your route.
The right move: check available dates on Tictactrip. If your date isn't yet on sale, the sales wave probably hasn't happened yet. Come back a few weeks later, or check the SNCF sales opening dates.
Can't find a OUIGO for your route? That's normal: OUIGO only serves major routes (Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lille, Strasbourg, Rennes, Montpellier...) and certain out-of-town stations like Marne-la-Vallée or Massy, which help keep prices down.
OUIGO Train Classique fills in the offering on regular-speed lines, such as Paris-Lyon via Dijon or Paris-Nantes, with fares capped between €10 and €49.
If your destination isn't covered by either, don't panic: on Tictactrip, the search automatically displays alternatives (TGV inOui, Intercités, TER, bus) and can even combine several modes of transport on a single ticket.
Let's be clear: OUIGO tickets are non-refundable. If you cancel your trip, you lose the ticket price.
However, they can be changed up to 1h30 before departure: you can change the date or time of your trip for an exchange fee, plus any price difference between the old and new ticket.
The trick for stress-free travel: if your plans might change, add the flexibility option at the time of purchase. It makes exchanges free and saves you unpleasant surprises. For an uncertain departure, also compare with a TGV inOui, whose tickets are more flexible.
Nothing could be simpler: search for your route on Tictactrip, compare OUIGO schedules with other options (TGV inOui, TER, Intercités, bus) and book in just a few clicks. You'll receive your ticket by email, with a QR code to present when boarding.
A tip from someone who's done it: keep the ticket on your smartphone rather than printing it, going through the gates is faster.
Watch the timing on the day: OUIGO boarding opens 30 minutes before departure and closes 5 minutes before. After that, the train leaves without you, and tickets are non-refundable!
