FAQ for the Ouigo bus company

🧒🏻 Policy for unaccompanied minors

En savoir plus

Minors under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult (over 18) for their Ouigo bus journey on national lines... However, this restriction applies up to 16 years old on international lines!

Between 12 and 16 years old, they can only travel on national lines if they have a authorization to travel alone signed by a parent. You'll need to show it to the driver when boarding, otherwise you'll be left on the platform! That would be a shame, right?

If you're over 16, you just need to bring your ID card when boarding and you can travel alone on Ouigo bus on national and international lines!

👨‍✈️ Boarding

En savoir plus

Boarding Ouibus or Ouigo bus (now called BlaBlaBus) buses is super simple!

Arrive about 30 minutes before the bus departure and have your ID and travel documents ready to show the driver. You don't even need to print your ticket, Ouibus drivers have your booking details, so just bring an ID document for boarding. Still keep your phone with the information you received by email, just in case, if you're a little unlucky!

Afterwards, go to your assigned seat or choose your seat if it's open seating, and enjoy your trip.

🧳 Baggage policy

En savoir plus

On your bus Ouigo bus, you're entitled to two carry-on bags and two hold bags. However, you'll need to respect a limit of 20 kg maximum!

Please note, for Paris London journeys and some routes on the Paris Lille connection, you'll only be able to bring one bag with you. Don't hesitate to check to avoid any unpleasant surprises!

Tip to avoid any problems: put a label with your first name, last name and phone number on your suitcase! Not only does it take two seconds, it will also help you avoid mix-ups. Let's be honest, most suitcases look alike...

🎟 Ticket types

En savoir plus

Ouigo bus, or Ouibus to friends, offers you cheap bus tickets. You can find bus tickets from as little as €5, so a small fiver is enough for a Bordeaux-Toulouse, Rennes-Nantes, and many other destinations! Impressive, right?! Plus, Ouigo bus regularly offers promotions, so you can pay even less for your bus ticket!

Nothing could be simpler when choosing your ticket type: no favouritism, the ticket is the same for every traveller! You can also get your Ouigo bus ticket in paper or electronic form, it's your choice.

💸 Cancellation and refund policy for tickets

En savoir plus

Ouigo bus, or rather Ouibus, is very flexible. You can change your ticket or cancel your ticket up until at least 30 minutes before departure. Interestingly, unlike other companies, there are no cancellation or exchange fees, whether you book on mobile or computer!

Regarding exchanges, if the price of the newly booked ticket is lower, Ouigo bus will refund you the difference in vouchers. However, if the price is higher, you'll need to pay the difference... (fair enough :))

Same thing in case of cancellation, your cancelled ticket will be fully refunded as a voucher! Once you receive the voucher, you'll have 4 months to use it. Interestingly, if you paid for your ticket with a voucher and then cancel it, it will be returned to you! Nothing goes to waste with Ouigo bus... 😊

En savoir plus

Optimal comfort is offered on these buses Ouigo Bus!

You'll find fairly comfortable seats with legroom, free Wi-Fi (although limited), power outlets so you can play on your smartphone throughout the journey, toilets, reading lights, individual air conditioning, etc.

After testing by the Tictacteam, it seems that on top of all that, Ouigo bus has a really friendly captain!

Lots of options for booking your Ouigo bus ticket! You can already buy it directly online on the website or through Tictactrip, it's super fast and easy! If you still don't trust technology, physical points of sale are there to help you!

Are you in a wheelchair or a person with a disability? Don't worry, spaces are available to guarantee you a comfortable and successful trip. Simply mention when booking your trip that you're a person with reduced mobility and you'll be welcomed and assisted by Ouigo bus (now Blablabus) staff.

Very important, to guarantee you a great Ouibus bus trip, you need to contact the company at least 36 working hours before your trip and everything will be ready when you arrive: 01 71 53 01 80.

🐯 Access for pets

En savoir plus

Don't be sad, but you'll have to leave your beloved pet at home or at a neighbour's during your Ouigo bus trip. Yes, unfortunately, the company doesn't accept animals! Then again, if everyone brought their pet, Ouigo bus would turn into a real Noah's Ark...

However, don't worry if you have a guide dog, it can accompany you on the bus for free!

💺 Seat selection

En savoir plus

In theory, you can choose your seat on Ouibus or Ouigo bus (BlaBlabus) buses when booking.

Please note, sometimes a seat is assigned to you directly when you book your trip. So let's cross our fingers that you don't end up next to a snorer or somewhat rowdy children. If you book at the same time as your travel companion, you're more likely to end up side by side (good news? you decide).

According to the experience of some Tictacteam members, some Ouibus buses have open seating, so come 30 minutes early anyway for a chance to choose your seat and have a great Ouibus trip!

En savoir plus

At the moment Ouigo bus, or rather Ouibus, doesn't yet offer a loyalty program. We imagine it would be tricky for them to offer promotions on tickets that are already cheap... However, the company can run occasional promotions with promo codes! Don't hesitate to check if any codes are available to keep saving on your trip. 😊

History of the Ouigo bus bus company

Ouigo Bus is the low-cost bus service from SNCF! To be honest, Ouigo Bus doesn't really exist - the official name is Ouibus. However, since everyone (including you) gets it wrong, this page can still be useful :). Are we right?

The pink and blue Ouigo buses have been criss-crossing French roads since 2015. However, they already existed since 2009 under the name IDBUS. It's hard to keep track, we'll grant you that...

Ouigo Bus offers long-distance routes from just 5 euros! Yes, it's possible to go on holiday for €5, leaving you enough to treat yourself to a great restaurant meal, better than the pre-packaged sandwiches from petrol stations! Live the good life :)

With Ouigo Bus, you can travel across Europe cheaply with your friends or family. In total, more than 300 destinations are available across 10 countries in Europe! To top it off, new destinations are added on a regular basis. In total, Ouibus offers more than 18,000 bus routes throughout the year.

What's more, Ouigo Bus buses are very comfortable and equipped with power outlets and Wi-Fi. With this level of comfort, you won't want to get off the bus...

One last clarification if you're still confused: the term Ouigo bus comes from travellers mixing up the Ouibus buses with the trains, which are actually called Ouigo! Is that clear now?
