YES "conventional" pets are accepted on board Ouigo trains. But there are a few exceptions, covered below.

There are various animals not accepted on board Ouigo trains, and you'll agree it makes sense.

Firstly, category 1 attack dogs such as the American Staffordshire terrier, pitbulls, or even mastiffs and Tosa-type dogs. They are banned from public transport.

Similarly, wild animals are not accepted on trains.

Finally, "new pets" such as snakes may be refused boarding.

What are the conditions for accepting pets on Ouigo TGVs?

Depending on the size and weight of your pet, the conditions for boarding the train differ:

  • For a pet under 6kg, it must travel in a closed container suitable for transporting animals.

    Dimensions must not exceed those of a cabin bag (55cmx35cmx25cm).

  • For a pet over 6kg, your pet must be kept on a lead and muzzled at all times.

    What's the price of a Ouigo pet ticket?

    The price of a Ouigo pet ticket is €10 and you can add it to your booking up to 30 minutes before the train departs.

    Note that if you haven't bought the pet ticket in advance, regularising the pet ticket when boarding costs €25 (€10 option + €15 issuance fee).

    Also, only 1 pet is allowed per adult.

    And guide dogs travel free on board the train, of course!
