Good news for travelers on the Paris<>Normandy lines!

The Normandy Region, in collaboration with SNCF Voyageurs, has announced the addition of 70 new weekly trips on the Paris<>Normandy lines and regional lines by 2025.

Specifically, starting mid-December 2024, more trains will be available to reach Normandy from Paris and vice versa, with services ramping up throughout 2025.

This initiative aims to meet steadily rising ridership over the past two years, with a +6% increase in travelers in 2023 compared to 2022, and a similar rise in the early months of 2024. Some lines, such as the Caen-Rouen route, have even recorded increases of up to 15%.

These new trips, largely scheduled during off-peak hours to meet travelers' needs, will help fill gaps in train frequency throughout the week and the day.

📈 Normandy confirms its appeal with an impressive total of 7.2 million overnight stays recorded between June 1 and 28, 2023, marking an 8.6% increase compared to the previous year. This momentum is driven by major events that attracted visitors from all over the world. The celebrations for the 79th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, combined with the 8th edition of the Rouen Armada, played a key role, contributing to a spectacular 14.6% increase in overnight stays in the region compared to June 2022. This growth confirms Normandy as a must-visit destination for lovers of history, culture and exceptional landscapes.

🇩🇪In 2025, Germans remain the most numerous foreign tourists in Normandy, closely followed by the British, the Dutch and Americans. This continued influx keeps bringing positive momentum to the tourism sector, with nearly 67% of professionals reporting satisfaction with June's results. The particularly mild weather played a major role in this success, encouraging outdoor stays and cultural getaways. In 2025, the number of French visitors to Normandy continues to grow, up 7% compared to the previous year. This trend is largely driven by tourists from the Paris region and neighboring areas, drawn in by a rich program of festivities and a varied range of activities, from cultural discoveries to outdoor leisure. Normandy continues to captivate with its iconic historical heritage, picturesque landscapes and warm welcome. However, declining visitor purchasing power remains a concern for nearly eight out of ten tourism professionals in 2025. This constraint continues to influence booking behavior, with a growing number of visitors adapting their stays to take advantage of the best deals. Some have shifted their vacations to May 2025, a period marked by several long weekends, or to June 2025 to take part in the festivities for the 81st anniversary of D-Day, which promise to be full of exceptional events.

These figures invite optimism for the 2025 summer tourist season. Nearly 58% of professionals surveyed expect a successful July, while booking rates for July and August are now approaching 65%, with further improvement expected as last-minute bookings continue to come in. This momentum reinforces the idea of a promising summer, supported by major events and favorable weather, key factors in maintaining Normandy's appeal to visitors.

Despite this positive trend, some tourism professionals remain concerned about visitors' strong tendency to book and cancel at the last minute. This increasingly common behavior complicates capacity management and resource planning. In 2025, this issue remains crucial, and its impact on the summer tourist season in Normandy will need to be closely monitored to limit surprises and maximize opportunities.👀

Normandie train ticket: Tempo

Tempo tickets are designed for travelers moving within Normandy. This is the standard fare for Normandy train journeys.

The price calculation method is as follows:

• 2nd/1st class Nomad Train ticket: €4/€6 every 25 km (journey under 200 km).
• €2/€3 every 20 km (beyond 200 km).

For regular travelers, it's possible to buy a TER Normandie ticket booklet, valid on Krono, Citi and Proxi trains. This booklet offers a 25% discount on the chosen destination in Normandy.

TER train tickets: Job Seeker

Designed for job seekers, this -75% ticket is valid for a round trip for a job interview or internship.

TER Normandie deal: Youth TER Ticket

For young people aged 12 to 25, all trips are -50% across the entire TER Normandie network. No specific conditions are required: simply show an ID during your trip to prove your age.

Is your train delayed or cancelled?

Two complaint services are available: Subscriber Passenger Guarantee and Occasional Passenger Guarantee.

Subscriber Passenger Guarantee

This service is for people with a TEMPO Normandie or Paris subscription.

If your train is delayed or cancelled four times in the same month, you can benefit from a 15% discount on your monthly payment.

Occasional Passenger Guarantee

This service is for travelers who used a reserved-seat ticket.

You can obtain compensation based on the following scale depending on the delay or cancellation of your train:

• 25% of the ticket price for a delay of 30 minutes to 1h59.
• 50% of the ticket price for a delay of 2h to 2h59.
• 75% of the ticket price for a delay of 3h or more.

Do you often combine train, bus and tram for your trips in Normandy?

The Tempo Plus Monthly subscription is designed to meet your needs, combining your TEMPO Normandie subscription with your city's urban transport network:

• ALTO: Alençon's transport network,
• TWISTO: Caen's transport network,
• SLAM BUS: Saint-Lô's transport network.

This plan comes in two versions: -26 and +26. It offers the same benefits as the TEMPO TER Normandie subscription, while letting you travel by bus and tram with a single subscription.

TER Normandie Tempo Plus subscription price:

The rate is calculated based on your departure and arrival station, plus the cost of the chosen urban transport network subscription.

What is the TER refund policy in the Normandie region?

Most TER tickets bought online on the TER Normandie website or via Tictactrip can be cancelled and refunded free of charge up to 24 hours before departure.

If your ticket states that it is non-refundable, this means it cannot be refunded. Otherwise, it is refundable under standard conditions.

For TEMPO tickets purchased online and not used, they are exchangeable free of charge up until the day before departure. However, TEMPO tickets purchased at the station are refundable with a 10% deduction from the original amount.

Most TER Normandie subscriptions also allow a simple refund before the start of their validity.

How to get a refund for a TER Normandie ticket on the website?

To request a refund, go to the TER Normandie website and log into your account via the "Order" tab. Enter your booking number and the name used at the time of purchase.

The refund will be made directly to the bank card used to purchase the ticket.

If you booked your ticket via SNCF-Connect or Tictactrip, contact the corresponding travel agency to get your refund.

Good to know: a TER ticket for a given route is valid on all TER trains that day for that route. A handy solution if you miss your original train!

In Normandy, the rule is simple: first come, first served. When you board the train, freely choose any available seat.

However, with monthly or annual TEMPO subscriptions, you get access to the "Ma place à bord" app.

This booking tool lets you set your seating preferences, offering extra comfort for regular travelers on Normandy's train lines.

Traveling with your four-legged companion on the Paris-Normandy lines?

To bring your pet aboard TER Normandie trains, you need to purchase an additional ticket.

This ticket gets a 50% discount on the full second-class fare, and it's also valid if you're traveling in first class.

Some important rules to follow when traveling with your pet:

• Your dog must be muzzled and kept on a leash.
• Small animals (such as cats, rabbits, or hamsters) must be placed in a suitable carrier.
• You must keep your pet supervised to avoid inconveniencing other passengers.

To activate your discount card, you must purchase it at a Normandy station or at Paris Saint-Lazare station.

How much luggage can I bring on a Nomad TER train trip?

Unlike high-speed trains, French TER and regional trains do not impose a strict limit on the number of bags you can carry.

You're free to bring as many suitcases as you like, provided you can carry them yourself and don't inconvenience other passengers aboard the TER.

Nomad Train and bikes: Can I travel with my two-wheeler?

You have several options for traveling with your bike:

First, you can leave your bike in a secure shelter available at about fifteen TER stations in Normandy. To access these shelters, you need to have the Atoumod Card.

Bikes are also accepted on the Nomad Normandie bus network. They can be stored in the luggage compartment, subject to availability.

Finally, SNCF Nomad Train lets your bike travel for free across the entire rail network connecting Normandy to Paris or any other regional destination. To do this, your bike must be stored in a designated space marked with a pictogram, and if it's not foldable, it must be transported in a cover no larger than 130x90 cm.

For travelers without a bike, SNCF Normandy Region offers a bike rental service directly at the station. TEMPO TER Normandie cardholders benefit from a reduced rate, which varies depending on the station.
