FAQ for the Wanderio company

🏷 Prices adjusted in real time

En savoir plus

As a travel comparison site, it's essential to offer prices adjusted in real time. This way you can always find the best trip at the best price.

At Wanderio, this isn't clearly stated on the site. However, we can assume this is the case, given that a booking expires after a few minutes of inactivity.

On the Tictactrip comparison site, we use the same principle! Let's take an example: you want to travel from Lyon to Marseille by bus, train or carpool. If the price of the Intercités train is €25, you will indeed pay €25 on our partner's site! No tricks here... :)

📲 In-app purchases

En savoir plus

You're probably wondering: what exactly are in-app purchases? Simply put, it's a feature that lets you pay for your train, bus or carpool ticket directly on the website, without being redirected to an external site.

On Wanderio, this feature does indeed exist! Once you've chosen your trip and type of transport, you'll be taken to a feature that lets you enter the traveller's name and pay for your ticket via PayPal or bank card.

At Tictactrip, this feature isn't available yet, but it will be very soon! Stay tuned ;)

🌍 Destinations served in Europe

En savoir plus

Since its founding in 2013, Wanderio has continuously expanded its network to offer users more destinations and simplify their travel.

Today, the comparison site offers travel to more than 700 airports and 4,000 rail and bus stations in Europe. This is a substantial network, made possible by numerous partnerships with transport companies such as Eurolines or Flixbus.

However, unlike Tictactrip, Wanderio doesn't offer certain trains on its site, such as TGV InOui or Ouigo trains. This makes it harder to reach certain destinations that don't have nearby airports...

🛸 Intermodality & combinations

En savoir plus

Intermodality, what's that, you might ask? It simply means, for a person, "using different types of transport during the same trip".

For example, you want to go to Madrid from Brussels for the weekend but don't want to spend too much on your plane ticket. So you'll take a bus to Paris, then a train to Madrid! That's intermodality - being able to mix and match transport for maximum enjoyment! :)

Let's get back to Wanderio. Unlike Tictactrip, the platform does let you travel with stopovers, but doesn't let you combine several types of transport.

Back to our example: for your Brussels-Madrid trip, if you fly, you'll be forced to continue by plane all the way to Madrid. A shame, as you could have saved money by travelling by bus, train or carpool!

🇫🇷 Destinations in France

En savoir plus

In this section, we investigated which French destinations are offered by the different transport comparison sites.

Even though Wanderio doesn't provide any information on which French cities are served, our research shows that most major cities are in the site's database. For example, cities like Strasbourg, Lille or Lyon are available on the site. You'll even find some smaller towns!

However, Wanderio doesn't always offer connections to these cities, unlike Tictactrip. Indeed, it's possible to explore the whole of France thanks to Tictactrip and its extensive bus, train and carpool offering! Thanks to intermodality, you can explore places you never even knew existed! Give it a try, and you'll travel without breaking the bank :)

🚌 Types of transport compared

En savoir plus

As its name suggests, a transport comparison site lets you search for the best routes at the best price, searching among several types of transport, whether by land, sea or air.

The transport comparison tool offered by Wanderio lets you compare several types of transport: plane, train, bus and even carpooling! Recall that Wanderio is connected to more than 700 airports and 4,000 stations, both bus and rail.

However, the comparison tool powered by Wanderio doesn't let you benefit from all these options at once. Indeed, it all depends on the route you plan to take...

For example, if you're planning a Strasbourg-Paris trip, you won't be able to book train tickets via Wanderio. Only flights, buses and carpools are offered by the company...

By contrast, Tictactrip is a multimodal comparison site that lets you not only compare bus, train and carpool, but find them on every route! What's more, you can even mix things up, taking the bus, then the train if you want to save on your ticket... Handy, isn't it?

History of the Wanderio comparison site

You've probably typed "travel comparison site" into your favourite search engine and come across an unfamiliar company called Wanderio. Not sure what it is? Don't worry, we're here to tell you all about this company!

Wanderio is a startup founded in 2013 by Matteo Colo, Luca Rossi and Disheng Qiu. It is based in Italy, more precisely in Rome.

Wanderio aimed to innovate in the travel sector, and so developed a platform that lets you search for and compare different routes and modes of transport. In short, its purpose is to make life easier for its customers by offering the best trips from point A to point B.

After an initial funding round in 2013, then in 2015 led by Club Digitale, the company welcomed the car rental company Europcar as a minority shareholder. Over €1.8 million was raised by the French company to develop this startup. It was also in 2015 that Wanderio launched its iPhone app! The Android version didn't arrive until two years later, in 2017...

Today, Wanderio covers 700 airports and more than 4,000 stations (bus or rail) with its train, bus, plane and carpooling offers to more than 100 countries.

By comparison, Tictactrip connects more than 37,000 cities in 31 countries, representing nearly 50 million connections and 150 transport companies! Notably including Ouibus and Intercités. Unlike Wanderio, the Tictactrip comparison site lets you compare and, above all, combine the best bus, train and carpooling routes, all while respecting the environment.
