FAQ for the Kiwi company

📲 In-app purchases

En savoir plus

In-app purchases, what could possibly be hiding behind this term? Well, ultimately nothing far-fetched. It's simply the feature that lets you buy a product or service online directly on the website.

In our specific case, we're talking about travel by plane, train, or bus. And at Kiwi, it's entirely possible. You pay for your ticket directly on the platform.

At Tictactrip, for the moment, you're redirected to the websites of our partner transport companies when finalizing your purchase.

But even if this feature isn't yet available, it will be very soon on Tictactrip. Indeed, by the end of the year online payment should be integrated into the comparison platform.

🇫🇷 Destinations in France

En savoir plus

We wanted to find out a bit more about the various destinations served by Kiwi, especially routes within our French territory.

We first notice that most of the major cities in our country are present in Kiwi.com's database. So, if you want to head to Nice, Rennes, or Montpellier, no problem. You'll definitely find a flight, a trip on the site!

On the other hand, if you're looking for destinations that are smaller, less well served, or less touristy, you'll have more trouble on Kiwi.

For that, we recommend turning to Tictactrip. Thanks to its combined routes and its many partner transport companies, the comparison site offers unique routes that are often better suited to users' needs.

🏷 Prices adjusted in real time

En savoir plus

For the various travel comparison sites, it's extremely important to offer users the best possible services. Adjusting prices in real time is a service we consider important.

Many players in the travel world don't do this, but Kiwi does indeed seem to! This allows future travelers on the site to always benefit from updated prices and avoid being caught out on this front.

On our comparison and combination platform, we do the same thing. If you see a price for a route displayed on Tictactrip, don't worry, it won't change before you pay for your ticket online!

That's the advantage of this real-time adjusted pricing system!

🛸 Intermodality & combinations

En savoir plus

Do you know what intermodality is? Intermodality is actually simply the fact of "using several types of transport during the same journey".

Concretely, if for example you need to get to Lisbon from Lyon for a short stay, you can take a combined route that will cost you less. And yes, because you just need to take a train to Toulouse, then from the pink city take a bus toward Lisbon! That's the concept of intermodality, diversifying the means of transport!

And on Kiwi.com unfortunately there are not yet combined routes or intermodality. It's important to understand that the site mainly compares flights for now.

Tictactrip on the other hand is an intermodal platform and lets you search and combine train, bus, and carpooling journeys in France and in Europe!

🌍 Destinations served in Europe

En savoir plus

Since its founding in 2012, the site Kiwi.com has continued to evolve and grow, eventually offering its users an impressive range of destinations.

To travel to the four corners of the globe, no worries with Kiwi. It's an online platform focused on air travel, so that makes sense. The site of course offers plenty of destinations across the European continent!

And even though you'll find a number of European routes on this comparison site, the relevance of the routes offered isn't always optimal. Indeed, Kiwi's ground transport offering is still quite light for now, and the site doesn't allow for combined routes either.

With sites like Tictactrip on the other hand you can compare and combine routes. All to more than 3700 destinations across 31 countries in Europe (for now) served.

🚌 Types of transport compared

En savoir plus

Kiwi is indeed an online travel comparison site. It's an online service that lets you compare prices for different journeys.

A travel comparison platform like Kiwi.com can offer its users different means of transport.

This is the case, for example, of Tictactrip, which compares and combines trains, buses and carpooling across France and throughout Europe. Tictactrip is the pioneer of intermodality and an expert in overland transport.

However, the platform does not (yet) let visitors search for air travel.

Conversely, Kiwi is historically a flight comparison site. When it was created, the site only compared flights. But since February 2018 it has been possible to find certain train and bus journeys on Kiwi. That said, the offering isn't yet exhaustive. And above all, Kiwi doesn't yet offer combined journeys.

History of the Kiwi comparison site

Kiwi what is it? Well, of course if you search this on Google you'll come across sites and images featuring the famous hairy fruit with the green heart. But that's not really what interests us right now. Here we're going to introduce you instead to the online travel comparison site called Kiwi!

Kiwi is a Czech company founded in 2012. Originally it was an idea by Oliver Dlouhy, joined by Jozef Képesi and then by other entrepreneurs.

The site Kiwi.com was launched in April 2012, allowing users to compare flights across the globe. The site continued to grow in the following years. In 2014 they acquired WichAirline, a travel search engine. Afterward, its growth rate doubled.

Thanks to new investors and new contracts, Kiwi began to be counted among the most dynamic companies in Europe and in the travel world.

In 2018 the comparison platform even expanded its offering to include 4 ground transport companies. Kiwi is therefore no longer just an air comparison site, it now offers ground travel too.

But for now its ground offering is still far from exhaustive, and above all it's not yet possible to combine trains, buses, and carpooling as is the case on comparison sites like Tictactrip, for example.
