Transport comparison sites: discover Opodo!

In-app purchases, what's that again? Don't worry, it's not such a complicated term to understand, since it simply refers to a module that lets you pay directly from a website.

On the Opodo website, once you've chosen your route and provided your information, you'll get a box that lets you pay for your plane ticket! Handy...

On the other hand, the built-in purchase feature is not yet offered on the Tictactrip website. Rest assured, our technical teams are aware of this and are doing their utmost to fix it...

Intermodality, what is that exactly? What does it mean? Going by the definition given by our friend Wikipedia, intermodality refers to "the use of several modes of transport during the same trip."

In other words, if for example you want to go to Barcelona for the weekend from Paris, you could make your Paris - Barcelona journey using a train, then a bus... That's intermodality!

Since Opodo is a transport comparison site entirely specialised in medium- and long-haul flights, it cannot offer intermodality in its flight search engine... However, you do have the option of booking a hotel at the same time as your booking.

Tictactrip, on the other hand, is a versatile comparison site that lets you compare your bus, train or carpooling journeys. Its strength lies in the fact that it lets you combine bus and train to connect more destinations! It's up to you to select the best route among those offered...

When using a travel comparison site, we also look at the type of transport it compares. There are two options: either the comparison site in question specialises in a single type of transport, or it offers several modes for comparison.

At Opodo, the strategy is simple: specialise in a single mode of transport, the plane! Indeed, when you use the Opodo comparison site, you can compare flights from several airlines, with or without a stopover...

At Tictactrip, on the other hand, you can compare and combine bus, train and carpooling journeys. What's more, as we saw above, you can mix bus and train in the same journey. In other words, you get the best of all worlds! :)

Picture this: you're searching for a Paris - Amsterdam route for your week off. So you're looking for the best route to get there and you come across an offer at €10. Although Opodo doesn't disclose the list of destinations covered in Europe, we can assume that all the major European airports are covered by the comparison site! So if you want to travel to Prague or Budapest by plane, that's possible!

However, the downside of air travel is that it can't serve cities without an airport. Tictactrip doesn't have this problem, since this comparison site is dedicated to land transport (bus, train and carpooling), which allows it to cover more cities in Europe!

Looking at the list of French destinations served by Opodo, we see that the comparison site's database includes a large majority of French airports. However, if you want to travel to a city far from any airport, you won't be able to book another form of transport ticket (train, bus, carpooling) with it.
