Knowing that our main customers are French and that we first want to offer them a simpler, more accessible and more widespread mobility offer, we focused on the land transport market in France (which has since expanded to Europe). We therefore look at the cities served by the offers of GO Voyages and Tictactrip.
GO Voyages, which is a travel agency promoting trips and plane tickets, cannot by definition offer full coverage of French cities. Today GO Voyages offers you trips and/or flights to exactly 104 French destinations, which are the most attractive ones (major cities, large cultural cities, ski resorts...).
Tictactrip's search engine, on the other hand, whose vision is to open up French regions, aims to serve more and more cities in France. That's why today we serve all towns with a train or bus station as well as many towns that can be reached by carpooling. In the same way, we are moving into access to ski resorts by offering combinations to help you reach your ski resort easily after getting off your train or bus!
Real-time price adjustment is an important, even essential, service nowadays for any travel agency or transport/accommodation comparison site. Indeed, it seems unthinkable that a site displaying incorrect prices (since these are constantly fluctuating prices) could function and achieve any longevity. Which customers today would want to see a price change and increase at the moment of payment after finding an offer that suits them while browsing transport deals (because let's be honest, it's rarely in the user's favour...)?
GO Voyages has clearly understood this, even if it came at a cost, as the agency was criticised for a while over prices that used to change... But that's no longer the case today. This is precisely why GO Voyages emphasises on its blog that the prices shown on its site and its trip and flight search engine are indeed adjusted in real time.
Tictactrip has also fully grasped this issue, which lies at the heart of our company values. Indeed, the concept we launched was primarily designed to simplify mobility and transport travel for everyone. That's why we try to find the combinations that will let you travel as cheaply as possible, and we adjust our prices in real time.
The term intermodality highlights the possibility for a travel agency/ticket comparison site to offer combinations between different types of transport, making journeys easier and reducing their cost. This concept has long been applied to freight transport in order to distribute goods to various delivery points. But when it comes to passenger transport, this concept was not applied.
But that was before Tictactrip entered the land transport market in France and Europe! Indeed, as a bus, train and carpooling ticket comparison site, Tictactrip offers you, and even places at the heart of its business, intermodality and combinations. This means that, for example, to travel from Paris to Lyon, you could travel by train first, then by carpool to reduce the cost of your trip! A great idea, don't you think?
The travel agency GO Voyages, for its part, does offer flight combinations, as stated on its website. However, since it only offers flights, it is by definition not possible for GO Voyages to offer an intermodal offer involving different types of transport.
This section covers the European destinations you can reach thanks to the various transport offers of the travel agency Go Voyages. Since it only deals with air travel, as mentioned in the previous tab, GO Voyages still has a strong presence in Europe. Indeed, you can travel to 45 of the 56 countries that make up Europe. That means almost all of Europe is connected thanks to GO Voyages's range of offers. However, since these are only flights, only airports will be accessible. GO Voyages won't let you reach a small town far from the national airport.
Once again, unlike GO Voyages, Tictactrip will let you reach (almost) anywhere in the 31 European countries we serve. Admittedly, we cover fewer countries, but that's because countries like Iceland are only accessible by air. Since we champion intermodality and land mobility in Europe, we can't offer options in these countries.
Depending on the travel agency or ticket comparison site you visit online, the offers and types of transport compared will vary more or less.
As for GO Voyages, which defines itself more as a genuine travel agency than a ticket comparison site, its search engine's main purpose is to compare plane tickets as well as accommodation offers and types of trips. It therefore compares only one type of transport: air travel.
Conversely, Tictactrip is first and foremost a ticket comparison site, specialised in land transport in France and Europe. Tictactrip chose this specialisation to offer its expertise in the field to its customers. The transport types that Tictactrip compares are:
Does the GO Voyages search engine and website offer integrated purchasing? In other words, is it possible to book your plane tickets and your trip directly on "govoyages.com"?
Yes, it is indeed possible to book your trip directly on the GO Voyages website. Being a full-fledged travel agency for some time now, the GO Voyage site offers this service, saving you from being redirected to the site of partner airlines and hotels. Your trip can then be fully booked in just a few clicks on their site. Nice!
What about integrated purchasing for Tictactrip? Well, since Tictactrip is a young startup that first developed its intermodal combination algorithm, we don't yet offer integrated purchasing. However, our technical team has been hard at work on this for several months, and yes, in 2019, you'll have access to integrated purchasing on our site to book your tickets and transport combinations! Great, isn't it? 😉
Go Voyages offers a loyalty programme called GO Voyages Prime, billed annually. In return, members enjoy discounts on:
The subscription also includes priority access to private sales and exclusive promotions, ahead of other users. Fancy getting some extra perks? There's also a Prime Plus plan that lets you share the discounts with up to nine friends, regardless of your own bookings. Note too that a free trial period is offered before any commitment. However, the subscription renews automatically each year and is non-refundable. For occasional travellers, the return on investment is therefore not guaranteed.
If you decide to end your membership, cancelling Go Voyages can be done in three ways: online, by registered letter, or by phone. This solution is convenient. The good news is that the call is free. You can call between 8am and midnight. Online, you can cancel directly from your customer account. Likewise, you can opt for a registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. It must be sent to Go Voyages Customer Service, TSA 70031, 75441 Paris Cedex 09. This last option remains the most legally secure, as it provides you with proof that can be used in case of a dispute.
Be careful: if you want to avoid automatic renewal, the request must be sent at least 24 hours before the renewal date. If the subscription is recent, you also have a 14-day right of withdrawal. In any case, it's wiser to keep the written confirmation sent by Go Voyages.
GO Voyages is a travel agency that was born in 1997 following the acquisition of the brand of the same name from Air France. Its founder, Carlos Da Silva, launched GO Voyages with the motto: "Choice, Price, Simplicity". A rather appealing travel agency promise, it must be said!
Then in 1999, GO Voyages grew rapidly by launching its own flight search engine on its website. This achievement, combined with the leasing of a Boeing 737-800 for the brand, gave the company a certain longevity.
In 2002, GO Voyages evolved further and expanded its offering to propose not only flights, but also accommodation booking directly on its website. The flight + hotel combination is now available on GO Voyages's search engine.
In 2010, after launching sites dedicated to different countries (English, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Dutch, German, Austrian and Swiss), GO Voyages launched its smartphone app that you can use easily. In these various developments of GO Voyages, we can clearly see at least two of its founder's values: "choice" and "simplicity".
Today, and since 2011, GO Voyages has been fully part of the eDreams ODIGEO Group. According to Wikipedia, the group posted revenue of 463 million euros in 2015. The services offered by the travel agency GO Voyages are numerous: flight booking, hotel booking, tailor-made trips, turnkey trips, but also bungalow and villa rentals, cruise bookings and even winter sports trips.
Finally, the GO Voyages agency has a small trophy cabinet thanks to the various awards it has received:
