Idbus FAQ

🚉 Points of sale for travel

En savoir plus

You have several options for booking your ticket with IDBus and your Ouibus ticket (which will soon become a BlaBlaBus ticket). You can do this online via the Tictactrip bus comparison tool or on the Ouibus website, but also at physical sales points.

To find the OUIBUS sales point closest to you, simply follow this link.

🗣 Misnomer... Which name to choose?

En savoir plus

To make sure you've understood correctly: IDBus buses became Ouibus buses in 2016, which themselves became BlaBlaBus buses in 2019. The latter will even be running on European roads (including French ones) in 2020! From now on, we won't say "I have an Ouibus to catch" but rather "I have a BlaBlaBus to catch". Got it?

♿️ Access for people with reduced mobility

En savoir plus

If you're in a wheelchair or have a disability, everything is arranged to guarantee you a comfortable trip aboard IDBus buses. If you mention when booking your trip that you're a person with reduced mobility, you'll be welcomed and looked after by IDbus staff (well, Ouibus now, and BlaBlaBus soon).

To do this, call 01 71 53 01 80 at least 36 hours before your trip (or as early as possible) so that everything is ready when you arrive at the station. Without this, it would be difficult for the company to organise your trip under the best conditions...

🏅 Loyalty program

En savoir plus

IDbus does not currently offer a loyalty program. That's a shame, since a loyalty card for 12-25 year olds called Ouiboost used to exist. However, prices are already so low that it's understandable the company can't really offer additional promotions.

Note, however, that IDBus (now Ouibus) will soon become BlaBlaBus, which means BlaBlaCar may well offer loyalty cards for travelling aboard their buses. Watch this space...

💸 Cancellation and refund policy for tickets

En savoir plus

Got a last-minute change of plans? You can change your IDBus ticket up to 30 minutes before departure. What's more, it's free if you do it through the app or online, pretty cool, right? Note that you can't change the name on the ticket: you'll need to cancel it and buy a new one with the correct name... And of course, if you exchange your IDBus ticket for a more expensive one, you'll need to pay the difference.

Cancelling a ticket is also possible. You'll be refunded in the form of an Ouibus voucher (since Ouibus is the new name for IDBus, and soon it will be BlaBlaBus). Also, if you paid for your booking with a voucher, it becomes available again to pay for your next trip!

👨‍✈️ Boarding

En savoir plus

Boarding IDBus (or rather OUIBUS, or rather BlaBlaBus) is very simple! Arrive 30 minutes before the bus departs and have your ID ready to show the driver. Then just head to your assigned seat and enjoy your trip! Easy, right?

One small but important detail: arriving at least 30 minutes before departure really matters. Checking all the tickets and loading all the luggage into the holds takes time! IDBus (sorry, Ouibus) even recommends arriving no more than 15 minutes early at most — once it's departure time, it's departure time, so watch out (we see you, latecomers and scatterbrains).

💺 Seat selection

En savoir plus

With IDBus (renamed Ouibus and soon BlaBlaBus), you can choose your seat for a small extra fee! To choose a front-row seat, you'll pay €4, otherwise it's €2. Compared to the price of some train journeys, it's worth it, isn't it?

Some IDBus buses also offer free seating. In other words, if you're among the first to arrive, you'll have the luxury of choosing your favourite seat. So you'll need to be quick, or play the negotiation card...

🐯 Access for pets

En savoir plus

If you find it hard to leave your pets behind while you go on a trip, we have bad news... Animals are banned on IDBus buses. They're also banned in the luggage holds (that would be cruel anyway).

However, guide dogs accompanying a visually impaired or blind person are allowed to travel free of charge aboard IDBus. If you absolutely want to bring your companion along on your trip, opt for trains such as the TGV InOui instead!

📞 Contact and phone number

En savoir plus

Want to know more? You can check out the Ouibus website. For a specific request, contact them via this form or via customer service by phone at 09 69 32 33 48.

Nothing beats a good old registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, in your opinion? Here's the address where you can send complaints as well as love notes: 40 avenue des Terroirs de France – 75012 Paris. And remember that you're now contacting Ouibus, not IDBus!

🧳 Baggage policy

En savoir plus

On IDbus buses, you can bring two carry-on bags and two checked bags (of 20 kg maximum)! However, don't forget you only have two arms, so don't overload yourself — leave the waffle maker at home!

Note that for the Paris-London route and some Paris-Lille routes, you can only bring one piece of luggage. Keep this in mind so you don't end up having to leave a suitcase behind on the platform!

Finally, remember to label your luggage with your name, phone number and postal address. This will save you a lot of unpleasant surprises, like having your suitcase destroyed because it was mistaken for an abandoned parcel... (or pleasant ones — you never know, it could be full of banknotes)!

🧒🏻 Policy for unaccompanied minors

En savoir plus

Regarding travel by unaccompanied minors, IDBus (now Ouibus, soon BlaBlaBus) has set very specific rules. Between the ages of 12 and 16, minors may only travel on domestic routes provided they have a signed authorisation from someone with parental authority. Under 12, children must always be accompanied by an adult.

For international routes, things change: anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (a parent, obviously)! Don't forget your ID card, without it there's no travelling aboard IDBus buses!

For 16-18 year olds, whatever the route, all that's needed is valid ID. To find out more about the list of documents required to travel as a minor, click here.

🆒 Safety, comfort and onboard services

En savoir plus

You'll travel in total comfort on IDbus buses (well, Ouibus, well, BlaBlaBus, you get the idea by now), with spacious seats and plenty of free services on board: free WiFi, power sockets, USB ports, etc.

To ensure a comfortable trip in the best conditions, you'll also need to do your part and follow a few rules, listed below:

  • You shall follow the driver's instructions!
  • You shall not touch alcohol or cigarettes!
  • You shall put your phone on silent mode!

A little bonus tip for your journey aboard an IDBus: you can even recline your seat and shift it towards the central aisle if you feel a bit too close to your neighbour. Tested and approved by the TicTacTeam!

🎟 Ticket types

En savoir plus

With IDBus (or Ouibus, BlaBlaBus), you can only choose one class and one type of ticket! Yes, no premium class like on an Eurostar for example, everyone travels under the same conditions! So you're guaranteed the same seat, and you won't be travelling in the hold...

As for the ticket you'll be sold, you can print it or simply present it from your smartphone or tablet, no problem! Normally, drivers have all the information they need, so your ID card should be enough.

Main destinations of the Idbus company

  • If you love going to the beach, you'll adore the Calanques of Marseille and the Mediterranean coast. It's impossible to describe the colour of the water, you have to see it to believe it! Otherwise, there's Prado Beach, which isn't bad either...

  • After your tanning session (unless it's raining, of course), you can take the opportunity to visit the MuCem or go see Notre-Dame de la Garde Cathedral. It overlooks the city and watches over the people of Marseille.

IDBus Lyon

  • Idbus (sorry, Ouibus or BlaBlaBus) serves many destinations, including Lyon, also known as the Capital of the Gauls. You're going to love it, we're sure of it... :).

  • If you're a foodie, Lyon is waiting for you! It's the gastronomic capital of France. Rosette, bugne, quenelle and cervelle de canut (rest assured, it's cheese-based) will delight your taste buds! Watch out for the extra pounds. :)

  • Since we're kind, here are a few places to work it all off: Vieux Lyon, Fourvière Hill, Presqu'île, Place Bellecour or the Musée des Confluences. You'll love visiting Lyon and its cultural diversity!

IDBus Paris

From 10€
Arrow select destination
  • If you take the IDBus (er, Ouibus and soon BlaBlaBus) bus, you can't miss Paris (unless you live there). Before travelling across Europe, a stop in the capital is a must!

  • The must-sees of Paris? There are so many it would be hard to list them all... Here's a small mix: the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadéro, the Centre Pompidou, the Louvre Museum, the Arc de Triomphe and Montmartre! That should do it, I think... ;)

  • If you go to Paris, don't forget to have a picnic along the banks of the Seine, or take a little bike ride/walk along the quays. That's what all Parisians do whenever the weather allows (basically as soon as there's a hint of sunshine...). ! :)

History of the Idbus bus company

Idbus is actually a subsidiary of SNCF offering a cheap bus service. But since 2016, we no longer talk about Idbus but about Ouibus. Taking advantage of the Macron law, SNCF completely transformed Idbus into a new entity: Ouibus

What's more, Ouibus will soon be just a distant memory: indeed, the SNCF subsidiary was bought by BlaBlaCar. From now on, we won't use Ouibus buses (formerly Idbus buses) anymore, but rather BlaBlaBus buses! Are you keeping up?

The Idbus bus company operates long-distance buses in France and Europe. It offers really cheap routes: it's not uncommon to find Idbus tickets (or rather Ouibus or BlaBlaBus) for 5 euros. Worth it, isn't it?

Today Ouibus (formerly Idbus and soon BlaBlaBus) connects more than 300 destinations in 10 countries in Europe (including 40 cities in France!). By the way, for the record, the sale of the Ouibus bus company is now effective and BlaBlaCar will rename all the buses to "BlaBlaBus" by 2020. It should first connect abroad, with 60 cities in Germany and Benelux, before running its buses on the French network and taking over the Ouibus network.

IDbus thus became Ouibus and will then become BlaBlaBus. In the end, whatever this company's name, you can find your IDbus ticket (well, Ouibus or BlaBlaBus) at a low price on Tictactrip, your favourite transport comparator! If you find it cheaper elsewhere, well that's impossible, because we compare and combine the best routes at the best price!
