Flixbus
🚨 Need information about bringing your bike on Flixbus?
We've gathered all the information about bikes allowed on board Flixbus buses. Under what conditions you can bring one, whether you need to buy a specific bike ticket, whether there are extra charges for transporting a bike, and whether your two-wheeler is kept secure during the journey.
We want to make your Flixbus journey the best travel experience possible.
But most importantly, before buying a Flixbus ticket, it's worth starting by checking Flixbus timetables and fares, destinations, and departure and arrival stations.
And if you still have questions before setting off on a Flixbus journey, we certainly have the answers:
Absolutely, it's possible! Most FlixBus buses accept bikes, letting you bring yours along on your trips.
Many buses in our fleet have a bike rack at the rear to make transport easier.
Other buses are equipped with special covers to protect bikes when they're transported in the luggage compartment.
When you add a bike to your booking, only journeys with buses equipped with bike racks or bike covers will be available.
Sometimes you'll see the notification "This journey is full", meaning there are no spaces left or the bus doesn't have the equipment needed to transport bikes.
If a journey can be booked but the number of bikes is set to zero, this means the bus isn't equipped to transport them.
Don't worry, you can still book this journey for yourself and your folding bike by registering it as "special luggage".
In this case, your bike will be transported in the luggage compartment.
Make sure you follow the specific rules for bikes registered as special luggage to ensure safe transport.
First, you need to add the number of bikes you want to bring during booking.
Then, complete the booking for your Flixbus ticket.
All that's left is to arrive at the boarding point with your bike. Remember to cover it if you want it stored in the hold.
Good to know: adding a bike is always subject to a fee. If you arrive at the boarding point without having booked a specific spot for your special bike luggage, it may not be accepted.
The extra fee for adding a bike on Flixbus generally costs between €8 and €18.99.
If you transport your bike with FlixBus, it will be placed in the luggage compartment as "special luggage".
Each passenger can book one item of special luggage. Folding bikes are welcome, but they must be packed in a bike bag.
The total dimensions (length + width + height) of this bag must not exceed 240 cm. To stay within these limits, you may need to partially dismantle your bike.
The maximum weight allowed for these bikes is 30 kg.
Please note that electric bikes, tandems and tricycles are not allowed.
There are two different places on the bus where your bike can be stored.
For bikes transported on a bike rack, each bus can hold up to 5 bikes. There's no need to dismantle your bike, and the maximum weight allowed is 20 kg.
However, e-bikes, tandems, tricycles and folding bikes are not accepted.
For bikes transported in the hold, Flixbus provides special covers to ensure safe transport. Each bus can carry up to 3 bikes in the hold without needing to dismantle them.
The special covers ensure bikes are protected during the journey. The maximum weight allowed for bikes in the hold is also 20 kg.
E-bikes, tandems and tricycles are not accepted.
