  • Today we're lucky to be able to visit Lisbon ... In 1755, an earthquake and a tsunami destroyed almost the entire city! It was a close call to lose one of Europe's most charming cities!

  • The famous Torre de Belem, located on the banks of the Tagus, was originally ... right in the middle of the Tagus! It was used to guard the entrance to the port of Lisbon!

  • The Cristo Rei of Lisbon was copied from the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro following a visit by the Patriarch of Lisbon to Brazil!
While you save up to travel to South America, we suggest you go see the statue in Lisbon thanks to our cheap Paris Lisbon buses or Paris Lisbon trains!

Want to head off for a stay in Lisbon but still lack some information, especially answers to the questions:

  • What to do in Lisbon?
  • How to get to Lisbon cheaply?
  • What transport options for Lisbon?

Good news, we've planned to answer that here!

Lisbon, what a beautiful city to start your tour of Portugal! Once you've discovered all its wonders thanks to the tips from your beloved bus, train and carpooling comparator, we suggest hopping on a Porto Lisbon train to continue your visit of the country.
But for now, it's time to board your Paris Lisbon to discover the Portuguese capital!

Lisbon is a rather large city, and although we imagine you'd like to stretch your legs getting off your cheap Lisbon bus or your train to Lisbon, we recommend touring the city on the typical Tram 28 Electrico. As well as being pleasant, it's very pretty! You'll no doubt fall for its charm.
Now that you're well rested, it's time for some cultural visits, but don't worry, you can go at your own pace! São Jorge Castle seems like a good starting point.
If you like antiques, continue your day by visiting the flea market. It's a real journey into the past! You can look with your eyes, but also... buy! Yes indeed, that's the advantage of taking a cheap bus to Lisbon, you've got plenty of money to treat yourself on the spot!
Not really into flea markets? Then spend your money instead on a pastel de Belém. It's THE Portuguese pastry you absolutely must try! With cinnamon or powdered sugar (or both!), it's up to you!

Since we love eating well, we also recommend trying the local specialty… codfish!
Eaten too much? Then go relax in the Gulbenkian Foundation gardens. You can escape the city for a little while by heading there!
There are still so many things to do, but don't worry: if your stay is too short to do it all, your bus, train and carpooling comparator offers cheap buses to come back whenever you like!
To give you a little preview, here's what you still have left to visit: the unmissable Belém Tower, the Lisbon Oceanarium, the beach near Lisbon… And above all you absolutely must take the Lisbon Sintra train (just 40 minutes). Sintra is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so it's a city not to be missed!

As for transport to Lisbon, you'll have several choices (besides an expensive flight), you could for instance travel to Lisbon by:
