First of all, good news: the Morzine-Avoriaz ski resort will be partially open from December 11, 2020, and fully open from December 18, 2020. In other words, you'll be able to head to the slopes from these dates.

But that's not all — following last summer and the first holiday period spent amid a global pandemic, the resort had already put in place appropriate restrictions and health measures. These measures will be extended for the winter season and may be adapted according to government announcements.

For skiing and ski lifts, for example, Avoriaz plans to:

• Not reduce the capacity of the resort's ski area and the Portes du Soleil.
• Make wearing a mask mandatory on ski lifts and in waiting areas.
• Offer online booking of ski passes at a cheaper price than in person to reduce crowds.
• Introduce physical distancing in the resort.
• Provide hand sanitizer at cash desks and lift entrances.

Similarly, for ESF (French Ski School) lessons in Avoriaz, masks are mandatory during group gatherings for people aged 11 and over. Masks will also be mandatory in all enclosed spaces.

Restaurants and mountain bars will be subject to the regulations set by the government. Health and hygiene measures must of course be respected in Avoriaz as in any other ski resort this 2020-2021 winter.

Finally, if you wish to book accommodation for your stay in Morzine-Avoriaz this winter, know that the resort has put in place a refund guarantee. Indeed, the resort's accommodation providers guarantee that if the government were to restrict non-essential travel or if the resort had to close due to the pandemic, your booking would be:
