Introducing the Cars Région Savoie network

Cars Région Savoie is the inter-urban coach network of the Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Formerly called Belle Savoie Express, this public transport service is managed, organised and funded by the Region, in collaboration with several private operators who run the daily service across the area.

A true backbone of mobility in Savoie, the Cars Région Savoie network connects the towns, villages and mountain resorts throughout the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys. It also serves certain neighbouring towns in Isère and Haute-Savoie, providing comprehensive coverage to make it easier for residents, students and travellers to get around.

The network now has nearly forty inter-urban lines, split into several categories:

  • 7 year-round suburban lines: connecting ChambĂ©ry and its surrounding towns;
  • 2 local-interest lines: to connect more rural or remote areas;
  • 28 seasonal tourist lines: dedicated to accessing ski resorts and tourist sites in both winter and summer;
  • 4 suburban tourist lines: reinforcing service to tourist areas around ChambĂ©ry.

Lines are identified by codes ranging from S01 to S89, depending on the area:

  • S01 to S19: ChambĂ©ry area and its surroundings;
  • S30 to S39: Maurienne valley (Saint-Avre, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne);
  • S40 to S59: Modane and Haute-Maurienne area;
  • S60 to S89: Tarentaise valley (MoĂ»tiers, Aime-la-Plagne, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Landry).

Thanks to this dense network, it's easy to reach the main ski resorts in Savoie such as Val d'Isère, Val Cenis, Courchevel, La Plagne, Les Arcs or even Les 7 Laux. These lines provide direct connections from the SNCF stations of Chambéry, Albertville, Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne or Bourg-Saint-Maurice, making car-free connections easier.

The network's timetables, routes and fares can be checked online, and planning your journey is made simple thanks to digital booking on Tictactrip. In just a few clicks, you can compare the available Cars Région Savoie lines, choose your route and get your e-ticket instantly.

Whether you're travelling for work, a mountain getaway or a local trip, Tictactrip brings together all the Cars Région Savoie options to help you find the most convenient, affordable and eco-friendly journey. It's the ideal solution for getting around the Alps with peace of mind, while reducing your carbon footprint.

By choosing Cars Région Savoie, you're taking part in sustainable mobility that's accessible to everyone. This modernised, connected network embodies the region's commitment to offering efficient public transport for residents and visitors alike, in summer and winter.

The Cars Région Savoie lines: understand the network at a glance

The Cars Région Savoie network is structured around several key stations (Aime-la-Plagne, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Chambéry, Landry, Modane, Moûtiers, Saint-Avre – La Chambre, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne). From each of these stations, numbered Sxx lines climb up to the ski resorts and valley villages. The idea is simple: you arrive by train, board your coach and finish your journey right at the foot of the slopes.

Here's a clear overview of the main lines to help you choose the right shuttle before booking your journey on Tictactrip.

Aime-la-Plagne: access to the La Plagne area

Aime-la-Plagne station is one of the main gateways to the La Plagne area. The shuttles then climb up to the villages and high-altitude resorts.

Bourg-Saint-Maurice: hub of the Haute Tarentaise

In Bourg-Saint-Maurice, you'll find shuttles for the major resorts of the Haute Tarentaise. The SNCF station and the bus station are side by side, making connections easier.

History of the Cars Région Savoie network

The Cars Région Savoie network is the heir to a long history of public transport organisation in the department. Its creation dates back to the 1980s, following the LOTI law (Loi d'orientation des transports intérieurs), which aimed to improve and structure regional transport at local and interurban level. At that time, the network was called Belle Savoie Express and already provided connections between SNCF stations, towns in Savoie and ski resorts.

Over the years, growing demand for mobility – particularly for access to the Tarentaise and Maurienne resorts – led to strengthened routes, modernised vehicles and better coordination with regional trains.

From Belle Savoie Express to Cars Région Savoie

The network's transformation took place in stages:

  • 1980s: creation of interurban routes following the LOTI law, then organised by the Savoie department.
  • 2010 – 2017: gradual transfer of transport authority to the Auvergne-RhĂ´ne-Alpes Region, as part of the regionalisation of TER rail networks and bus routes.
  • 2017 – 2018: birth of the Cars RĂ©gion brand, adapted for each department, with a unified visual identity.
  • November 2020: the "Belle Savoie Express" network officially becomes Cars RĂ©gion Savoie, with a new name, a new visual identity and fully regionalised management.

A modernised and harmonised network

Since its rebranding, Cars Région Savoie has undergone extensive modernisation. This includes:

  • vehicle renewal and improved onboard comfort;
  • harmonisation of services between the different valleys (Maurienne, Tarentaise, Combe de Savoie, Bauges…);
  • the creation or modification of routes for better coverage of the area;
  • the introduction of consistent numbering (S01 to S89) to easily identify the areas served;
  • the widespread rollout of electronic ticketing and M-Tickets via the OĂąRA! card.

Since 2024, Cars Région Savoie has operated as a fully regionalised network, designed to make daily travel easier for residents as well as access to the winter and summer sports resorts that make the department famous.

Today, the network has more than 30 routes, including many seasonal connections linking SNCF stations to mountain resorts. It is an essential part of sustainable mobility in Savoie, for both tourists and residents.
