  • If you dream of the sea, the Calanques de Marseille are where you need to go. The contrast between the rocks and the water is beautiful to see! You might think it's no match for the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean ... You'd be wrong, the water really is beautiful, and besides, getting to Marseille by bus is still much easier ... and much cheaper!

  • To enjoy a lovely view over the Old Port, we recommend visiting the Château d'If (immortalised in The Count of Monte Cristo)!

  • Architecture lovers, we know you'll be interested in la Cité Radieuse.

Feel like discovering the Phocaean City but lacking information, especially answers to the questions:

  • What to do in Marseille?
  • How to get to Marseille cheaply?
  • What transport to travel to Marseille?

Great, that's exactly what we planned for this page!

Honestly, this city is stunning, and if you love the sea, a stop in Marseille is a must. And good news: with our bus comparator, it costs almost nothing! You'll easily find a route such as Aix Marseille, Lille Marseille or Lyon Marseille.

A must in Marseille, you have to spend at least a lovely afternoon at the calanques. The view is breathtaking! You can go hiking, sail out with a skipper, whatever you like! And don't forget your swimsuit! It gets very hot in Marseille, so it'll likely come in handy to cool off with a dip!

The next day, we suggest a trip to Château d'If! If you're picturing a crumbling castle perched on a cliff, you're wrong ... Château d'If sits on a tiny island just a few kilometres from the Old Port of Marseille. From the castle, you'll get an incredible view of the city and the port. A round trip by boat costs around €10. Sometimes you have to pay a little extra to get a nice photo to share on Instagram. 📷 Either way, you won't regret this trip!

For (yet) another lovely view of Marseille, you can stroll along the Corniche! From here, you'll see the Mediterranean and its lovely fine sand, and you'll probably end up at Catalans beach, where you can play volleyball or rest after this long day.

To discover this pearl of southern France, you can find a cheap bus ticket thanks to Tictactrip! We're not fussy, we accept (almost) all departure points and pretty much all types of transport for your weekend in Marseille:

  • By train, Marseille is right on your doorstep! Indeed, the city has three separate stations, so be careful not to mix up Saint-Antoine Marseille station, Marseille Blancarde station and Marseille-Saint-Charles station. You can then take a TGV InOui, Ouigo, a TER, a Lyria train or even Intercités trains to travel to Marseille!
  • By bus, Marseille is just as easy to reach since the city is served by bus companies BlaBlaBus, Alsa and Flixbus.
  • By carpooling, Marseille is even easier to reach since many people commute to work and travel to Marseille! You'll almost certainly find a carpooler making the same trip as you. To find them, simply compare transport offers on our site!
