There are a large number of fares for the same train ticket at SNCF. Although there are only two classes in a train: second and first, ticket pricing varies according to several points.

Indeed, the price of a ticket varies depending on its cancellation, exchange or refund conditions and its flexibility. After reading this, you will be an expert on the different types of SNCF tickets.

First class tickets

First class is the ultimate experience for travelers seeking serenity and comfort. You will be able to enjoy wide armchairs and a refined atmosphere on board, making for a pleasant journey. Furthermore, there are fewer seats so more space to stretch your legs: absolute relaxation!

Your tickets are all exchangeable and refundable according to conditions allowing you great flexibility.

First class fare

With a First ticket you will have the chance to enjoy many advantages:

  • Choice of an isolated seat, duo, for 4 people or in a closed lounge for the most intimate

  • The possibility to enjoy the Quiet Space (seat choice at the time of reservation and on a selection of destinations)

In addition to these advantages, an electrical outlet is provided for you so you never run out of battery. You will be able to eat or work in the greatest comfort thanks to a fold-away table. An individual reading light will also allow you to enjoy a good novel without disturbing your neighbors.

Business First class fare

The Business First rate is truly reserved for professionals. On board, you are placed in First class cars but you have the chance to have a more substantial level of service.
No more queuing, using priority lines for boarding and in SNCF shops. You will also be offered a hot or cold drink and a newspaper at the platform.

Finally, you can wait peacefully for your train to arrive by accessing the grand voyageur lounges with wifi access, free magazines and complimentary drinks. These lounges are open on weekdays until 10 pm and on weekends until 8 pm.

It is moreover the ticket allowing you greater flexibility: exchange or modification of the Business First ticket are free up to 30 minutes before departure.

Second class tickets

Second class is more synonymous with conviviality although you must respect the calm atmosphere on board. But you can enjoy the family square or family space where you will meet other families.

These tickets are exchangeable and refundable according to even more specific conditions than First class tickets. But you will appreciate many advantages on board.

Prem's fare

These are low-price tickets allowing you to travel while having made a very good deal. They are put on sale first, hence the name and in limited numbers.
So, from the opening of sales, four months in advance, you can buy these tickets. Don't waste time and set a reminder so you don't miss the sale opening.

Once all the Prem's tickets are sold out, the price of tickets increases. Similarly, the fuller the train gets, the higher the price goes. It is therefore to your advantage to book your tickets in advance.

Second class fare

These are tickets sold once all tickets at Prem's rate have sold out.

Like with Prem's tickets it is preferable to reserve your tickets in advance to benefit from small prices that can reach up to -35% discount. They are also reservable and refundable according to less flexible conditions than First class tickets.

Pro Second class fare

Finally, the Pro Second fare is a good alternative for professionals. This allows you to enjoy greater flexibility than a second class fare even though you still travel in a second class car.
All premium services available with a First class ticket are accessible with this fare.

However, be aware that companies must sign a contract with SNCF to benefit from these advantages. To subscribe follow: this link .
