With the aim of always guaranteeing you the best deals we are going to define the different periods for buying a TER ticket classified according to a calendar.
You will then understand why your TER ticket may be more or less expensive depending on the given period. These are classified into blue periods and white periods.
The blue period corresponds to off-peak hours. Thus, the typical week is:
Monday to Thursday: 00:00-06:30, 08:00-17:00 and 18:30-00:00
With the Advantage, Young, Weekend, Senior + and Child + discount cards, you benefit from 50% discount on all tickets for journeys during the times mentioned above.
For Discovery 12-25, Discovery Senior, and Discovery Child + cards, a 25% reduction applies.
There are special days to take into account in 2021 when the usual calendar differs:
January 1st, April 4th, May 13th, 14th and 23rd: all day
The white period corresponds to peak hours. The typical week is as follows:
Monday to Thursday: 06:30-08:00 and 17:00-18:30
First class ticket holders have the privilege of getting 40% discount on their ticket.
You are guaranteed up to 25% discounts with Advantage discount cards.
As mentioned above, special days are also valid for the white period as follows:
