SNCF Carte et Abonnement
The MAX JEUNE pass, launched in 2021 (formerly TGV Max), lets young people aged 16 to 27 travel for €0 on a selection of TGV INOUI, OUIGO Grande Vitesse and INTERCITÉS services, subject to availability.
Priced at €79/month, this pass is ideal for regular, flexible young travellers looking to explore France (and beyond) at a lower cost.
You can have up to 6 MAX journeys booked at once. Once confirmed, these tickets are valid at no extra cost. If unavailable, a 30% discount is automatically applied.
The subscription is billed at €79 per month, with an initial 3-month commitment. No surcharges or booking fees are added to the monthly rate.
MAX tickets are valid on a selection of TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS services (excluding TER and standard OUIGO). You can also travel to Luxembourg and Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany).
Bookings open 30 days before departure and are available right up to the train's departure time. It's essential to confirm your ticket in time to travel for free.
Once subscribed, you get access to MAX PLANNER, a calendar showing you which trains are available for MAX journeys. You can use it to book, cancel or change your trips, as well as manage your subscription.
TGV INOUI, OUIGO Grande Vitesse and INTERCITÉS services requiring a reservation. All journeys are in 2nd class. A reservation is mandatory to travel.
Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Strasbourg, Rennes, Nantes, Lille… and many other cities accessible with MAX JEUNE.
Travel for free to Luxembourg or Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany, subject to MAX availability.
MAX JEUNE is designed for young people aged 16 to 27. No other conditions apply, but flexibility is key to getting the most out of it.
Head to MAX PLANNER to see the €0 trains, up to 30 days in advance. Confirm your tickets by 17h the day before departure at the latest.
You can cancel after 3 months' commitment, with a €15 fee (waived after 12 months' subscription).
MAX JEUNE is perfect if you travel often and can fit around MAX train times. The Carte Avantage is better if you travel less often or have more scheduling constraints.
The MAX JEUNE subscription costs €79/month, with no sign-up fee. It renews automatically each month.
The MAX JEUNE subscription is taken out for an initial period of 12 months from receipt of the confirmation email. It is then automatically renewed unless you choose to cancel it.
However, you can cancel your subscription after 3 months of commitment. A cancellation fee of €15 applies, unless you have already been subscribed for more than 12 months, in which case this fee is waived.
The MAX JEUNE subscription pays for itself from a single round trip on a long-distance route. For the €79/month subscription to be worthwhile, you just need to make more than €79 worth of trips in a month — which is quickly reached if you travel regularly.
If you are happy with your MAX JEUNE subscription, there's nothing to do: it renews automatically every month. On your 28th birthday, the subscription is cancelled automatically, with no action required on your part.
Subscribing to the MAX JEUNE plan is done entirely online. Here are the steps to follow:
Formerly called TGV Max, the SNCF MAX JEUNE subscription was launched in 2021 to let young people aged 16 to 27 travel more often for less.
For €79/month, it gives access to free 2nd class journeys on a selection of TGV INOUI, OUIGO Grande Vitesse and INTERCITÉS trains, within France and to a few nearby cities in Europe (Luxembourg and Freiburg im Breisgau).
An ideal deal if you travel regularly and are flexible with your schedule. Do bear in mind, however, that seats are limited, so it's best to book your tickets in advance.
