🤖 SNCF Connect Bugs: A widely criticized new app

En savoir plus

A controversial launch

With its launch in January 2022, SNCF Connect - formerly OUI.sncf - wanted to enter the era of simplicity and "all-in-one".

Today, the app is under heavy criticism for its repeated bugs, its “dull” design including its heavily criticized dark mode, and its overloaded search engine.

Criticism mainly focuses on:

  • Lost traveler bookings,
  • issues reading train ticket QR codes,
  • random route suggestions,
  • the inability to make more than two connections or choose a stopover,
  • the disappearance of the price comparison feature,
  • the inability to use SNCF Connect Wallet and store your ticket on your iPhone,
  • difficulties accessing a ticket to cancel it.

SNCF Connect bugs: Further improvements to come

Following issues linked to the launch of the new booking platform, SNCF CEO Jean-Pierre Farandou has promised numerous changes.

Some of the expected new features aren't yet available, but more than 100 additional improvements are planned, including:

  • SNCF Connect Wallet: The ability to import your trip as a QR code via the Wallet app on iOS.
  • SNCF Connect Proof of Travel: A feature to edit and receive your proof of travel from the SNCF Connect Tickets tab and by email.
  • SNCF Connect TER Subscription: It will be possible to download the PDF with the ticket barcode from the app.
  • SNCF Connect Fixes: An overall improvement to the site's quality of life, such as optimizing the SNCF Connect Route feature or the SNCF Connect Chat Bot.
  • If you'd like to submit feature suggestions or report a bug, feel free to share it at vous.sncf-connect.com.

    SNCF Connect FAQ

ℹ️ SNCF Connect Services: What are the new features?

    En savoir plus

SNCF Connect features very close to Oui.SNCF

In practice, the SNCF Connect website and app are very similar to its predecessor, Oui.SNCF.

    That means you can still:

    • Book your TGV, TER or INTERCITÉS train ticket,
    • take advantage of the many SNCF Connect services and options when booking,
    • and benefit from SNCF Connect discount cards on your bookings.

SNCF Connect new features: How it works

New features have however appeared as part of the SNCF Connect platform's "all-in-one" strategy, including notably:

  • The ability to search for a route from point A to point B (for everyday short trips as well as long-distance journeys).
  • Buying TGV, TER or INTERCITÉS tickets but also BlablaCar carpooling, BlablaCar Bus...
  • An "SNCF Connect dark mode": an app and site with blue and black tones for better comfort, greater readability of information but also reduced smartphone battery drain.
  • Do you have ideas, feature suggestions or want to report a bug on the SNCF Connect app?

Feel free to share your suggestions at vous.sncf-connect.com.

🏷 SNCF Connect Luggage: How to tag your luggage

    En savoir plus

When you travel, your luggage is entirely your responsibility and must be tagged.

Tagging is necessary to allow identification of your luggage before your SNCF trip.

To do this, you must go to the SNCF Connect website after booking your trip.

Then you can create your tag, which must show:

    • Your first and last name,
    • a phone number,
    • your postal address,
    • and your email address.

After that, you can print your tag and attach it to your luggage.

Good to know: When booking, you can choose the number of bags you want to bring (a limit applies depending on the selected carrier) with you on your SNCF Connect trip.

If your luggage is lost or left behind in a station or on an SNCF Connect train, it may be destroyed if it is not identified.

🎟 The different SNCF Connect travel offers

    En savoir plus

With the complete overhaul of the OUI.sncf website, it's easy to assume that SNCF Connect brings new train, bus and carpooling offers.

However, the SNCF train offers presented remain the same, namely:

    • All SNCF routes: TGV, OUIGO, TER, INTERCITÉS...
    • All train routes in Europe: Thalys, Lyria...
    • And bus and carpooling routes: BlablaCar Bus and BlablaCar.

    The bonus?

The addition of Transilien trains and public transport in Île-de-France to integrate everyday routes into SNCF offers.

However, the SNCF Connect app does not include other well-known carriers such as Flixbus or Altibus.

🌍 SNCF Connect: Destinations served in France and Europe

    En savoir plus

The SNCF Connect travel comparator covers most major French and European cities.

Of course, the routes offered depart from and arrive at railway stations for train journeys, or a bus station for bus journeys.

Enjoy SNCF Connect Bordeaux, SNCF Connect Marseille or even SNCF Connect Paris routes.

Bus offers depend solely on the BlablaCar transport service, as does carpooling, which is also managed by that same company.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to access the entire land transport network in France and Europe.

What's more, access to ski resorts is very limited with SNCF Connect.

The service does not currently offer shuttle routes to reach your favorite ski resorts.

History of the SNCF Connect comparison site

    SNCF Connect: Why change everything?

Formerly Voyages-sncf until June 2017, then OUI.sncf until January 2022, SNCF Connect is SNCF's main distribution platform.

In development since 2021, the aim of this new digital service is to merge Oui SNCF, the app for traveling across France, and the SNCF Assistant app, which allowed route searches.

Around 200 people built the brand new SNCF Connect service, using new technologies such as Flutter and a 100% cloud-native design approach.

This new iteration of the platform is part of SNCF's ambition to build an all-in-one mobility service, made up of an app and a website.

    An "all-in-one" service:

With SNCF Connect, you can book a train ticket, but also book a bus ticket or book a carpool.

You can also top up and buy a TER or Navigo pass from the SNCF Connect app.

It's also an online travel agency where you can book:

    • Your SNCF Connect train ticket,
    • your SNCF Connect bus ticket,
    • your SNCF Connect carpool.

The service includes all SNCF Voyageurs offers:

    • TGV INOUI,
    • OUIGO,
    • Intercités,
    • TER,
    • Thalys,
    • Eurostar,
    • TGV Lyria.

SNCF Connect also includes BlablaCar Bus offers and carpooling offers such as BlablaCar and Klaxit.

SNCF Connect offers on its platform the services of 400 airlines, 500,000 hotels and 30 car rental companies.

"[...]SNCF Connect is the choice of a name that combines our pride in the SNCF brand with this wonderful idea of connecting us all through digital technology and mobility." - Christophe Fanichet, CEO of SNCF Voyageurs.

    SNCF Connect: Eco-friendly travel

Eventually, eco-friendly routes will be suggested for 100% of user searches.

Adding soft mobility options to this booking platform will allow everyone to step up their commitment to eco-friendly travel.

SNCF Connect branding: a new visual identity

To go along with this change, SNCF Connect swaps Oui.SNCF's colors (orange/red/white) for midnight blue with pops of color.

This makes the site easier to read for users and reduces users' environmental footprint.

What's more, the use of the word "Connect" expresses the connection between the booking platform's services, but also between modes of transport.

"Connecting you to the essentials, for smooth, clean and stress-free travel, throughout the country."
