Bad news: The Val d'Isère ski resort, normally open from 28 November 2020 until 2 May 2021, has to postpone its opening date due to the lockdown announced this Wednesday 29 October 2020 by the President of the Republic. But it's only a postponement, the new opening should be announced for December!

In Val d'Isère, health measures are being put in place to ensure holidaymakers' safety during their 2020/2021 ski trip. Here they are:

• Signage put in place to ensure social distancing. Installation of plexiglass screens.
• Mandatory mask-wearing for people aged 11 and over, in enclosed spaces and public places.
• Hand sanitiser available throughout the resort.
• Increased cleaning frequency of resort infrastructure such as accommodation, common areas, shops...
• Online check-in and payment.
• More flexible booking conditions.

Also, on the Val d'Isère ski slopes and particularly around the ski lifts, a few measures have been taken to ensure, once again, skiers' safety and peace of mind:

• First of all, the resort has put in place a cancellation and refund guarantee for ski passes up until the day before the first day of skiing.
• Then, wearing a mask is mandatory on the ski lifts, in enclosed spaces, at the ticket counters, and also for ESF lessons during group gatherings.
• Otherwise, you won't be required to wear a mask once you're on your skis and on the slopes!
• The seats and cabins of the ski lifts are regularly disinfected by resort staff.
• You'll be able to ski without restrictions across the Val d'Isère ski area!

Finally, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and après-ski venues are and will remain subject to current government restrictions.
