My night train journey from Linz to Frankfurt unfortunately didn't live up to my expectations. The train was fairly old and the compartments lacked cleanliness.

What's more, there was an air conditioning issue, which made the atmosphere stuffy during the night. The staff were also fairly distant and not very available. However, the journey itself was quite pleasant, with beautiful scenery to admire.

Despite these drawbacks, I think it remains a worthwhile option if you're willing to make a few compromises on comfort.

First of all, remember to bring sleep accessories such as an eye mask and earplugs.

These accessories can help you shut out potential noise and light on board the train. Also, don't forget to take safety precautions.

Be sure to lock your compartment properly to avoid any issues during the night.

One tip I can give you is to try to travel light for this type of trip. Indeed, luggage space can be limited in the carriages.
