To allow travellers to depart at the lowest prices to/from Lyon, BlaBlaCar Bus has introduced new routes for summer 2022.

The new routes are:

• BlaBlaBus Lyon - Nancy,
• BlaBlaBus Lyon - Cavalaire-Sur-Mer,
• BlaBlaBus Lyon - Sainte-Maxime,
• BlaBlaBus Lyon - Lavandou,
• BlaBlaBus Lyon - Hyères.

Get ready for a holiday in the South along the French Riviera in Lavandou or Hyères, unless you'd rather head to the Grand Est region and its Baroque-style city of Nancy!

SNCF has just announced that your TGV will run today and you no longer need to take your BlaBlaCar bus? No need to panic, you can change or even cancel your ticket up to 30 minutes before departure. And the best part is that you can do all this online and free of charge. Yet more proof that BlaBlaCar bends over backwards to make your travels easier!

Do note, however, that you'll be refunded in the form of a voucher to use on your next trip via the Ouibus app (because BlaBlaCar buses don't technically belong to BlaBlaCar for now) if you cancel your booking. For ticket exchanges, this is always free online, but you'll have to pay €5 if you do it at the station and €10 if you use customer service. Also keep in mind that if the ticket you're changing to is cheaper than your original one, you'll still need to pay the difference.

The option to choose your seat on BlaBlaCar buses is available depending on the route. Sometimes seating is unassigned, in which case you need to be quick if you want your preferred seat.

That said, it can also happen that the bus driver assigns you a seat when checking your booking. We hope you'll be in good company!

To date, BlaBlaCar buses do not offer a loyalty program. This is easy to understand, as these buses are a temporary service to make up for the lack of SNCF trains during strike days.

However, if this system works well, BlaBlaCar might well choose to keep offering this service permanently, and a loyalty program could appear then. We'll keep an eye on it!

During strikes, it's all the more complicated to arrive on time. To make sure you don't miss your BlaBlaCar bus either, be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure time.

Boarding is very simple: state your name and show your proof of booking and an ID document to the driver, drop your luggage in the hold, and off you go! (Well, on the bus in this case...)

Travelling by BlaBlaCar bus can be very handy if you just can't help but bring your whole house with you, even for a 3-day trip. In fact, you can bring not 2, not 3, but a full 4 pieces of luggage with you: 2 carry-on bags and 2 hold bags of up to 20kg each. Enough to let you move house stress-free!

Are you a minor or a parent whose child needs to travel alone on BlaBlaCar buses? That's entirely possible for young travellers aged 12 and over. Below that age, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Between the ages of 12 and 16, the child will need to bring a parental authorization to show the bus driver before boarding.

As BlaBlaCar buses are a temporary service, their official name isn't really set. We chose to call them as neutrally as possible: BlaBlaCar buses. But if this service becomes permanent, we might well see names like BlaBlaBus or even BlaBlaAutocar appear.

BlaBlaCar buses are committed to making travel easier for all their passengers, including those with disabilities. That's why special spaces are provided, especially for wheelchair users.

Some advance preparation is nevertheless needed if you'd like the bus staff to be fully ready to welcome you. But don't worry, it doesn't take long! Here are the 2 simple steps to follow:
1) Mention your situation when booking your tickets.
2) Contact the Cristal number at least 36 days before your trip at 09.69.32.33.48 (cost of a local call, standard line open Monday to Saturday from 8:30am to 8pm).

36 days is a lot, we quite agree with you. If you book fewer than 36 days before departure (which is likely with SNCF strikes), call anyway, they'll surely understand!

Bad news: animals are not allowed on board BlaBlaCar buses, whether in the cabin or in the hold (fortunately, for the poor creatures!).

An exception is of course made for guide dogs that their owners absolutely need to get around, and this of course comes at no extra cost.
